My thoughts too. Hell, I would have been more excited if it was offered in the ok or okp and not mt. I'm not a big fan of lid bales and I like the second handle on the premium kettles. Either way, still hate the taco. Maybe I'll get one of these. I don't know. Would have to see in person.

For the record I'm not worried, I'm fascinated with seeing how it plays out.

I do believe the truth lies in a mix of all our speculation. 

Here's my speculation:

Patio World jumped the gun releasing what wasn't supposed to be leaked and was overwhelmed with people who called in and got on "the list".

When others called their respective Alliance dealers, they made calls to their sales reps, were probably not too happy with Patio World and , again speculating here that Patio World may have got a little gruff from Weber, hence their lengthy statement about wanting to give other Alliance dealers a chance to take orders.

Meanwhile the local dealers who were getting calls from enthusiasts like ourselves are probably thinking "Fuck this, I'm going to take orders too if some guy from the opposite coast can take orders and my prospective customers credit card info, then I'm taking orders."

Further speculation:
There will be some big box stores that ARE pre-ordering a bunch and are telling prospective customers that they're not taking orders till August because they don't even have SKUs for those units but know that there will be a bunch rolling around in their system, much like how Ace still has some Brick red left that was probably a special order that they thought would be long cleaned out by now.

Anyone taking orders now and telling customers there is a deadline is full of it and trying to cover their ass for leaking the info early. Personally, if I had an order in with Patio World (or anyone else) I would demand my money back as they are flat out lying to get people to put money down ahead of time. Kinda shady in my opinion...

Yes, this. It does look like Patio World was full of shit and trying to tap into as many sales as possible...
It certainly could be a mistake, or it could be them being a bunch of douchebuckets.
Either way, I'm getting mine from Ace.
If I had plopped money down at Patio World, I'd be cancelling and getting my money back.

Not to disagree, but another local Alliance Dealer here on Long Island contacted me on April 3rd with the same May 12th order by date.  When I called them about it originally all I did was inquire about the grill. I never mentioned dates, Patio World, or anything specific.  They told me they had never heard about the grill, had no info, and would call Weber and call me back later, which they did a week later.

They called and left a message for me and were very specific about the May 12th date to get the order into Weber.  He also mentioned that he was getting PDFs and schematics on the grill sent to him.  I think I'll reach out to him tomorrow to see if he'll send me anything in hopes of him getting a sale.  If he sends me anything I will be sure to share it with the group.  I wish there was a way I could post the voicemail for y'all to hear it.

My mom n pop, non alliance dealer is saying big box stores had to have their orders in by May. He will be able to "order in the fall".

I just walked into my local Ace and they found it via SKU 8703274.  They actually told me I could order it and have it next week.

I'm ordering it Friday.  Let's see what happens.

My Ace guy texted me this AM and said he has to order them by 7/14 in order to get what he wants as it's in the national ad campaign

My suggestion is let your Ace hardware know you want one so they get you one coming. My guy is getting 3 he said one for me and two for the store. I suggested a few more because who cares if you don't sell them until summer but it's not my $$

If you are unable to find one look on craigslist or ebay. I bet you can find a mint Red with metal bowl handles for less than one of these modern ones.
