@darko

Who did you talk to did they seem wholely competent??  Granted maybe they're preordering several but my guy made it sound like he only had one shot to order these in. And I do know that season ad stuff is about 6 months out

That's how my folks explained it as well.  They seem very frustrated with the correspondence from Weber which has given conflicting information to them as far as when they could release the information.  If they are being told that they can only get the ones they pre-order by May 1 and then they are widely available to big box stores at a later date I could see them being very frustrated.

There are other brands which they sell in increasing numbers such as Traeger, Napoleon and BGE. When there are local events it seems they other grill companies are doing more as far as marketing. Maybe Weber is just THAT confident that they don't care so much about their mom and pop Alliance dealers.

I explained all that to them, about other places taking orders and wanting payment beforehand. They checked everything and called me back and told me that they will be taking orders in October for the Weber Limited Edition grill, for delivery in November. I specifically asked if it was the red for $199.00. I was told yes. I asked about preordering and was told no, they are not taking them now.
What I gathered is that this grill was announced to dealers and some leaked the info ahead of the official announcement.  Now, I'm starting to believe this because looking at @captjoe06 's ad from his dealer, they have a cut off date of May 1st. Now, Patio World in California had a cut off date of May 5th.

What this is leading me to believe, is that some dealers may be taking preorders with prepayment ahead of time to minimize their financial risk on ordering.

I was told by an Weber Alliance dealer in South TX that cut off was May 1. That $100 deposit would pre-order me one and it would be $199 and no delivery charge if I pick it up. I decided to pass. Red is not really my color. We shouldn't have to purchase sight unseen just because it's Weber.

Just spoke with my local Alliance Dealer and he said they ordered 16 of them and he was holding one for me.  Delivery will be late October / early November.  I'll just chuckle if I've made all these calls and I see one sitting in the local Lowe's.

Local Ace just told me something similar.

Seems more like the people that are trying to take pre-orders are trying to take advantage of the grillfellas.

You'll be just fine @rottiguy...There will be plenty for everyone.  If you got 2 bills, you'll have this grill like the rest of us will.  All this unnecessary worrying....

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

When I google the grill, I see nothing official from Weber at this point in time. What I have seen is just a picture from 1 or 2 dealers.

SixZeroFour

Those dealers jumped the gun and leaked a promo that wasn't supposed to drop until Aug.

So just my opinion but I am fairly certain that dealers are needing to place their pre orders NOW.  Now that is not to say that is all that weber will produce I imagine they will do a certain percentage over what is preordered.  My Ace guy said he has to order now and will be guaranteed what he orders but will not be guaranteed any more than that so there will not be any available through the warehouse system.

I think the other dealers like Patio world are in the same boat they want to make a sale but don't want to order 100 units and be stuck with 25 after the initial rush thus the reason for the preorders.  I find it unlikely to be able to wait until august or later to add to the initial order since didn't we determine these will need to at least be Enamled overseas?

If that is the case, then why did my Ace dealer say he's taking no orders until October even though I offered to pay now?
