22" premium weber kettle issue with legs

Welcome everyone I'm now to the forum and love what I'm seeing, what's the quick fix so the legs of my kettle don't keep popping out of the slot while I'm moving the grill?

Hello bud. I've not done this, but a lot of fella's put some aluminum foil around the leg. Says it helps with the "wobbles" too. Let us know what you do.

I may have gone "too far" with mine, but dont think I ruined it, but i drilled a small hole and put a pop rivet in it..Good and solid!

Welcome to the WKC. I use needle nose pliers to spread and widen the end that slides into the socket. Put the nose of the pliers inside the leg and pull the handles apart, spreading the end of the leg. Sometimes it takes several applications.  Keep checking for fit so you don not enlarge the end to much. If that does not fix the loose legs then use the foil tape also. I have used the foil tape method and it works great for loose legs.  You have to buy HVAC Foil Tape.   Home Depot carries it:

It is possible that this kettle's legs were not assembled correctly if they are randomly falling out.
The legs need to be tapped or pushed in gently UNTIL THEY BOTTOM OUT.
The sockets are deformed slightly to create a "friction fit" when the leg is properly "bottomed out" in the socket.

The easiest and least invasive, is the foil tape.  Just put one layer.  It's just enough too muck up the works.  And if you put too much you can always take it off....worked great on my red 26 with some wobbly legs that fell off every time I touched it

It's now close too 2.5 years old, worked fine for a year or so but now they wobble and fall out when I pick it up to wheel it or move it off the deck

I like the pop rivet ideal, I tried drilling a small hole so I could insert a screw but it wouldn't drill through... Maybe my bit was dull

Thanks for all the tips guys, I think I'll try the foil tape first, hopefully that helps with the wobble of the legs also

Drilling it ain't easy, you have to get through the enamel and that's means you need to use a slow speed on your drill and a steady pressure. To fast and you'll smoke the bit or snap it.

I used the slow drill method.  Once I had the holes drilled into the legs I simply used self Tapping SS screws.  No more wobble OR the "Dismemberment" of the legs while moving it.  My Kettle is over 40 years old and mine has the WOODEN handles on the Lid and side handle. 

It was my Dads first Kettle.  A Lot of sentimental value for me.  Its nice to know that Weber still offers a lot of original replacement parts for these work horses...

I realized that in no time at all, gave up quick when I seen it wasn't drilling... I think I'll try foil first then maybe slow drilling.. Thank you
