Changed my mind when I seen the price of foil tape compared to 3 stainless self tappers, used a carbide bit to take enamel off then drilled and screwed

No need to drill through the leg socket itself. There is a gap where the leg sockets attach to the bowl. Just stick a 1/2" self tapping machine screw right in the leg at the gap.

dang, had I only thought of that seconds before i drilled through the socket.. next time for sure

I only had the leg issue with my original silver that I bought back in '06.
