Funnily enough, today I put a 26" grillmark grate into the firepit and it fits perfectly in the cage.

I almost put a vent onto the top half, it fits nicely on a 26" bowl

They do make a 26" SM adapter, but I would think that the 22" would still "nest" in the taper of the fire pit.
Just a circle into a cone.

That last picture looks like a pretty ideal set up!
Especially with the vintage cooler

Great score.  I have to say I'm jealous. ;D  I been looking for a new Weber Fire pit as I have my dealer looking for one for me.
Platinum Performer Kettle (In Blue), OTG (In Blue)
Genesis Gasser (In Blue), Smokey Joe (Uline Lime)
Looking to buy (18.5 blue or brownie and blue lantern)

Thanks guys, so what dose the sand do besides help insulate from the heat? , my thoughts were it would hold moisture and promote corrosion on the heat shield. Just curious what your opinions are on it thanks again
