Ballistic Griddle was a big success!
« on: June 22, 2016, 04:10:13 AM »
So last week I posted that I had just received my Ballistic Griddle from Craycort and was really hoping to try out last weekend.  Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity until yesterday. You can see my post from last week for some pictures of the unit just out of the box.

The Griddle is thick and solid.  I've gotta say this thing rocks!

Used the slow-n-sear underneath.

Melted a little butter to get it started.

Moved to the cooler side

Threw on some cheese and toasted some buns

Not so new looking anymore but cleaned up with a quick scraping.

JUICY and DELICIOUS!!!

I would definitely recommend this accessory.  Here's the link for anyone interested.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that. You got a real nice crust on those burgers.

Do you see any cons about it?

None that I can see. It was awesome. Love using with the Craycort ring because I can spin the ring to move it for access to charcoal if needed.

If you are looking for great griddles.. I'd also recommend taking a look at the MOJO griddle. While I ended up not buying one, it's a great looking product. I followed a similar design to build an 20" griddle for my 18" kettle. One advantage that it can provide is that it covers the entire cooking surface for making eggs, bacon, pancakes, stirfry, etc. It really has opened up an entirely new recipe line on my kettle. Anyway, thanks for the info on the Craycort. I could see how having half surface could be beneficial.

If you are handy with steel, you could probably get this exact size cut from a supplier on ebay for around $30.

I remember cleaning griddles from the old days and we used club soda on a hot one and it works great.
Thanks for posting I am looking at buying this with a set of cast iron grates. :)

vodka works pretty good too. with an open flame tho, maybe a bit risky.
