My new toy
« on: June 02, 2016, 06:44:50 PM »
Some of you guys may have read my introductory post highlighting a 22 inch kettle I rescued that needed a lot of work.

I didn't realize I had been bitten by a bug.

That kettle is going to live on with a newer lid in the care of a good friend.

I on the other hand feel like I hit the mother load.

Yesterday while browsing CL I came across this....

One day and 160 miles later, she is in my garage.

She needs a little clean up, but is cook ready. She's smokin' a butt this weekend.

Can you guys tell me a little about this grill from the pictures, I'm still new to the Weber world. Anywhere on this that can give me an idea of how old it really is? What trim model it is? Etc....

Thanks for your input.

There's a glossary in the sticky posts at the top of this forum.

SSP is what you have - a Stainless Steel (table) Performer.

The lid vents have a stamped letter code you can use to determine it's age - see the link on the main WKC page.

That's gonna make a great grill for you!

Nice. That's a stainless steel performer, first generation, with gas assist.
You can use the date code on the lid vent to determine age, use the chart on this page. http://weberkettleclub.com/determine-age-of-old-grill/

There are some specifics regarding the tank and whether its ODP or not, I don't remember the specifics. Lots of others will i'm sure :)

I know everyone values  things differently... But, was $75 dollars for this SSP a decent buy?

Everyone has their own different ideas of value - I think the important question is - Which would YOU prefer to have - $75 or that grill?  8)

Nice grab!  75 is a good price especially if everything is there and working.

Here is some reading regarding your grill's history.  The performer is a great grill!
