Weber S-470 at 1 week.

Hi all,

Bought a Weber S-470 Propane gas grill last Thursday. I plan to give a update at milestones (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 month type time frames).

After a week, all is good. Our weather in Wisconsin wasn't great last weekend so haven't been using it as much as I would like.

 Here we go.

First off, this thing is powerful HOT. I was a little surprised how hot it gets on medium heat. I do have 4 burners but it still surprised me.

We made basic burgers for its maiden run, turned out good. used the sear station for 90 seconds on each side for 1/2 pound burgers. Then moved them to medium heat for 2 minutes a side. nice crust from the sear and medium rare final result.

Next up we did 15 Italians as we had guests over. Simple to make but again this grill is hot and it surprised me yet again. Ended up using the warming rack to avoid flare ups and over cooking.

Last thing was basic boneless chicken breasts. This was my best outing as I had a better feel for the heat. Easy cook and had nice golden outer sides, real nice.

We are being more adventurous this week as we will try the rotisserie.

Lesson so far. This is a very powerful grill. Almost too much grill. I had/have Genesis Platinum Series II 3200 3 burner as my main grill before the new toy. I feel better as I am getting a technique down with the S-470. This is a serious professional grill. It exceeds my grilling ability at this point. I need to get better!

Very cool with the updates. I'll look forward to your continued thoughts. I'm not much for gassers, but those sure are beautiful machines.

I've been having that model except mines run on natural gas for five years now! Still looks and cooks like the day I bought it.

The rotisserie feature is my favorite. I use that at least once a week!

You will love grilling on that summit. My suggestion is keep it clean and covered.  [emoji6]

That's awesome. I know what you mean about almost feeling like you may have bought too much grill. I've got the Genesis E-310 and often find myself thinking I should have just saved a few bucks and went with the Spirit E-310 for my daily use. But you know how it goes, the one time you really need that extra size/power you'll be glad you've got it.  :)
