The White Buffalo - Weber 22.5" Marbled Custom

With
@harris92
just posting up his gorgeous BLACK custom - I figured it was a good time to introduce it's inverted twin!
Like Stephen's kettle this custom also was found to have white wheels hiding underneath a good layer of surface rust.
The tray was also quite rusted but the underside was most certainly painted black. I decided to do the whole pan both to protect it and so that it looked uniform. Since the pan has some pitting I didn't want to just spray it gloss black as it would have looked unnatural - instead I chose to go with a very dark metallic finish that was called "Oil Rubbed Bronze". I wanted to go for a natural bare metal type finish but one that didn't look out of place on the kettle. It's a weathered finish with just a hint of the bronze metallic in direct sun. I love how it came out and wont be changing a thing!
The restore took me 5 days on this one. More than double what I've spent on any other kettle I have. The white color made it very difficult to clean so I had to work at a snails pace to avoid causing any damage to the finish. The lid has a few sections where the finish has worn a bit, and it has a few grate weld blow outs - but considering it's age it's its wonderful shape. The bowl is even better than the lid with almost all of the porcelain retaining a nice glossy finish to it. I plan to do a blog post showing the restoration progress start to finish... but this is what it looked like a few weeks ago
And now today...
The white is a
nightmare
to photograph in sunlight - even worse than lime... either that or my camera just sucks because it surely couldn't be the operator
I will try to get some with less glare once the weather permits. Until then I hope you enjoy!
It has a white speckled interior like an old SJ:

Matt - that is simply spectacular! I don't think I have ever seen a more amazing original Weber kettle. Truly a one of a kind.
Congratulations.

I'm just stunned! Absolutely beautiful, and excellent job on the restore Matt!
So, what's up with the no markings on the lid vent? I realize this is old, but like first run old? Next to George's original with the red base, I don't know that I've seen such a cool kettle!

That's absolutely awesome, Matt. I can't wait to see the rest of the story in the blog post.
Re: taking pictures of a white kettle- your camera likely tries to set the exposure such that the average pixel intensity is at 50%. Since there is soo much dark hedge behind the super bright kettle, it will bump up your exposure and blow out your kettle. I know you like your trademarked hedge backdrop but if you put the kettle against something lighter you'll get a much better exposure. Walls inside the house typically work well. Feel free to tell your gf that Gummi said you can bring it in.
Again, Congrats on the score. I take it that this will be in the permanent collection.
