when using fire bricks instead of baskets, do you wrap then in tin foil or just put them in? tks all

I just grabbed a couple of paver bricks sitting in front of my garage and threw them in.  Have been fine ever since.

I wrapped mine in foil, only to protect them from gathering gunk from various cooks. I'm not sure if it would retain odors or become a breeding ground for contaminants (unlikely/impossible due to the heat) but foil is cheap.
This is a fairly cheap hobby when you consider the time  with family and friends and how many meals are created.

I have some fire bricks that I use occasionally. I don't wrap them.
