Thanks.  At the time, Brian told me he got the wood as a sample and wasn't sure what it was. 

Sounds like some of the guys have some pretty good guesses though!

@Scott Zee I love that stripe down the center of that Cocobolo. It's a actually an interesting quick read about the origin of that tree and how it's used. Sounds like you got the best of both worlds with that particular piece of stock.
I've had to look up a few of these names to find out where they come from. If your interested and haven't already looked it up.

That is nice! Cocobolo is very dense and heavy wood similar to Ebony wood.  I am tempted to order one. But, too many other wood types already. Resisting the urge.I must stop. I must stop.

Do not make a raft out of either wood... it will sink.  (updated to raft from boat) ;)
