I need to get to busy on mine.

The outdoor season is winding down in these parts.
I had some wood scraps to burn ... needed to free up some space.

I, frankly, could sit outside with a fire every night.  Mother Nature, however, sets the tone for the GWN.

It will go from this ....

To this ....

My wife wanted no part in this .... It was only about 3-5℃ (40℉) .... Actually very nice in my books. No wind, either.

I decided I wanted one last "kick-at-the-can" for 2014 when it came to my fire pit.

I gathered up the wood needed for a decent fire ...
Even threw on the head of an old corn-broom donated from my neighbor.  :D

I totally missed this thread. I love the fire pit idea! The best part about it is that you can still grill on the kettle.

Cool pics, MacEggs!  The funny thing is, while the outside fire pit nights are winding down for you, its only now getting chilly enough at night here to justify a fire.

Damn cruel.  Gonna be doing my cooking in heavy coat, gloves, hat and scarf soon enough.  The cold is getting in my bones more as I get older but let that keep me from good Q???  No bloody way.

I did this last winter:

"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

Look at the bright side, that makes for a nice wind block.

The two handles on the bowl of the pit allow me to keep my feet warm ....  8) 8)

It's 2018 .... I wanted an 18" kettle fire pit to honour the year.

Made this stand back in late February during a mild spell.  Finally got it painted and fired it up.

I tack welded some EM to the charcoal grate.  I also go with the basic ash pan below that.
No ash drops on the ground below.

It's a great set-up!  So much lighter to transport than the 22" version.

After the above pic, I roasted some wieners for a late night snack.  Delicious cooked over a fire.  8)
