Tight leg socket on 18”

Hello,

I am working on a new kettle, and I am having issues with getting one of the legs in. I have had this issue in the past as well, and I just keep twisting until I eventually work it into the socket. I don’t want to risk any damage to the kettle, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Can you reshape the end of the leg that inserts into the socket? I was thinking of trying some soap or oil on the end of the leg and see if that helps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure the leg is as round as possible.  The round end of a box wrench or appropriately sized socket helps fix the round opening. 

Squirt a smal  amount of silicone lube on the leg end.  Use a rubber mallet and some gentle but firm persuasion.  I would not twist.   The friction indentation on the leg socket is what holds the leg in tight.  Twisting is somewhat counterproductive.
