We went to a Mushroom Festival over the weekend. Interesting info and samples. Bought a Shataki mushroom  log and it is already starting to sprout.

Rad! Do you just keep it moist with a spray bottle?

How do you keep wild spores from growing?

It is made up of special soil with the shroom spores, and all I have to do is spray water to keep it moist and cover with some plastic to keep the humidity in. They say to use the bag the log came in for that. So that is what I am doing.  The fun is watching them grow. They get fairly big before you harvest them. Will post progress pics as they grow.

I had a choice of crimini, shataki, oyster or maitaki mushrooms. If this does well I may try others.

Very cool!  We had a kit once that looked sort of like a bumpy white football.  Had some success but nothing too exciting.  I've since learned that I could've gotten much better yield had I read a bit.

That's really cool! Never seen the mushroom log before... other than what I deposited in the toilet...
