What's the story behind Weber Alley?
This. @Matt - spill the beans!
I'll help Matt out. These colorful little bungalows are in the seaside town of Capitola which is about 5 miles south of Santa Cruz. They are sometimes called "The stucco ladies or Painted ladies". Growing up, my parents had a summer home in the adjacent town of Soquel. I spent my summers fishing all day on the Capitola pier.
Here 's a quote from the Capitola history website:
"An unmistakable part of the seaside landscape is the complex of colorful houses that line Capitola Beach. They were built as condominiums in 1925 and were intended to bring Venice’s charm to Capitola. The brown houses within the same complex now comprise the atmospheric Capitola Venetian Hotel."
Prices to rent rooms at the Venetian are actually pretty reasonable.
