1950's BBQ Tray Collection
« on: November 10, 2018, 08:09:44 AM »
My interest in collecting old Webers has branched out into collecting other related vintage BBQ items.  Along with some really cool BBQ utensils, I have picked up a few vintage metal BBQ trays from the 1950's-1960's.  They had been sitting in my garage until recently when my wife allowed me to change our kitchen wall decorations to a BBQ theme. The all red color tray is a Marcelline Stoyke design who was an Illinois architect and designer in the 1950's.  It is said she used her husband as the model for the grillmaster in her different tray designs.  The other 3 trays I have are  called Atomic Age design.   @dazzo

I had been looking for a piece to go directly above the pass through window and pull everything together. I just this week picked up this one on eBay.

All of these trays can be found at garage/estate sales and most can be found currently on eBay.  They are inexpensive considering their age and are a nice addition to any wall, especially an indoor or outdoor "Man Cave" or grill area.  Anyone else out there collect these trays or have some different examples?

I picked up the same tray in your pic above (the top one) at an estate sale for a couple of bucks about a month or so ago.  I know that @SmokeVide/Brian picked up some very cool trays/plates recently that were on FB Marketplace.  Brian, got any pics of those ones handy?

Those are so cool. They kind of remind me of the Jetsons. Modern yet vintage.

I have this one.
I brought it to the Chicago meetup this summer for serving sliders.

Here's mine. It's a pretty huge platter and I love it.
