Yesterday, i started on my Jumbo Joe Smoker mod using an 80 qt stock pot.
As you know, this requires the drilling of holes. As I was drilling the holes and using WD-40 as the lubricant on the bit and hole, I noticed a familiar scent. One that I had not smelled in years.
The friction created by the bit heated up the WD-40.....and the fumes created smelled just like lighter fluid being burned on charcoal!!!
Weird that heated/ burned WD-40 has the same scent as burning lighter fluid.
I doubt any of us use lighter fluid on our cooks but it got to me to thinking....
But its concerning to me that a fuel many use to cook with has a the same scent of burned WD-40.
Are the same chemicals in it?
