I had the house to myself last night, perfect for a man size meal. Not the most creative burger, I was going for a classic which is my favorite way. Lots of pics, enjoy.
Go big or go home, 3/4 pound of fresh 80/20 Chuck from my local butcher
Heavily seasoned with my Green Salt blend
Square patty for square bread
A little soak in Worcestershire sauce while I prep the veggies and get the grill up to temp, two onion slices just in case one falls apart
The rest of the onions sliced thin with tons of pepper and butter.
Onions were finished with fresh Thyme and Sage from the garden, and a little splash of beer
The firebricks strike again
Grilled onions first
The burger is on, a little Apricot wood in the corner for a little flavor
Those little charred bits are going to taste so good:
Off to the side to melt the cheese
Took a temp reading and was a little under goal so back on the fire for a few minutes, damn that looks tasty
If you've never done sandwich bread for a burger your missing out
Since i'm going for an American Classic I went with the most classic ingredients
Keeping it traditional
Shitballs! I almost ruined everything. That's a full pint all over everything. Amazingly none got onto any ingredients but it took forever to clean up.
Ok back to business, nice slather of Mayonnaise after toasting the bread
There is a piece of bread under there, I promise
Looks so good, I had to force myself to stop for pictures
The gooey is on
If you go upside down your bread will not get soggy as quick, and it looks cool. One of the best looking burgers I've ever made
Get in my belly!
Washed it down with a tasty beer
