My girlfriend was in the mood for some BBQ chicken and requested breasts
so I got a whole yard bird - an air chilled Rocky brand - and cut that sucker up. I'm getting pretty good at breaking down a chicken. I can start after I light the chimney and have it done before it's ready to dump.
I also followed a Bobby Flay recipe for a grilled potato salad -
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/grilled-potatoes-with-mustard-garlic-dressing.htmlNo smoke on these guys - the legs and thighs are going in a fried rice dish tonight and my girlfriend thought smokey chicken might be a little overwhelming. Just getting cooked indirect with some Royal Oak lump.
Up close and personal
My mom made some homemade BBQ sauce last year and canned a bunch of it, so I whipped that out to paint the breasts and wings. No sauce on the legs.
While those guys were finishing up on the 22" I lit up the 18" to grill the potatoes. Old style baskets with some leftover Stubbs and a little lump.

And all plated
Next time I would cut the potatoes in quarters so they can soak up the dressing a little better. I ended up doing that before I put the leftovers away and think it will be a lot better today. Next time I might also cut the breasts off the bone so I can get sauce on all sides. Had a bowl of salad on the side. All in all a really tasty meal!
Thanks for looking.
