Title: Summit charcoal grill on sale
Post by: cumminfourya on March 11, 2017, 11:50:30 AM
At ACE hardware and they have the summit charcoal grills on sale for $500 off. Makes it almost tempting. Just don't know how I feel about spending that much ( mostly cause I don't have that much ). But damn they sure are nice. I can't believe they are discounted like that.

Yeah my brother sent me a message about the local ace in our area having them on sale a few weeks ago. Except they were $400 off.  $999 is step in the right direction but it will still be hard to overcome the already established egg. I would prefer the summit over an egg myself for being lighter and less fragile.

At a G that standalone one is tempting. Then I remember that it doesn't eat cold here and the cooking grate is smaller than the 26r.

Those are what the retail prices should have been from the get go, in my opinion.

FWIW - Not once have I regretted the decision to take the plunge since purchasing almost a year ago now, and would never trade it for a ceramic (BGE or similar).

It's a truly badass all-in-one solution that's more versatile, durable and easy to use than any egg. You can move it around with ease, switch from grilling to smoking within minutes, and the double wall design has reduced my charcoal consumption by at very least 25%. That's a substantial amount of $ saved on fuel alone when you grill as much as I do.

Just barely... feels just like cooking on a 26 :)

There was a guy on the slow n sear FB page that said he bought one for half off recently because the dealer that had a few was not selling any.  My local dealer said that he hasn't sold many at all due to the price.  I would like to try one out but not at it's current price.

@cumminfourya is that the 84th and Center Westlake? Not that I can afford a Summit, but I haven't been to that one nor the 90th & Maple location for a couple months. My "home" Ace is 144th and Center. Just curious.

Nope, that is at your Ace Craig. 144th and Center. Only Ace in town I've seen that has the summit is that location. I went to 84th and Center when I left there and they didn't have much of anything. The Walmart in Gretna if your interested has there brand of kettle covers on clearance for a buck and starter cubes for $2

I just bought a new Good One Marshall that a dealer close to me had for almost three years that they never sold that they discounted for 50% off of retail so I really don't need to buy anything else right now.  I have spent way too much on grills and smokers in the past year so I need to slow down.

I just wish I knew someone personally that had one so that I could check it out in action.

It definitely is a beast and can hold a lot of food.  I also own a Good One Open Range which is quite a bit smaller that I also bought from the same store last year for 50% off.  When I bought the Open Range, they also had this Marshall for sale at the time but even though it was also 50% off at the time, I wasn't sure how I was going to like the Good One smokers so I bought the smaller one.

These smokers are pretty much set it and forget it and since I really like the Open Range, when the store put the Marshall back on CL for 50% off, I couldn't pass up the deal.  We have a large gathering at least once a year and it will come in handy for that.

When I finally use it, I will try to remember to put up some pictures so you can see it at work.  You can also go to Youtube as there are people using it for cooks on there.

I'm actually taking a BBQ class this month held by Chris Marks who is affiliated with the Good One smokers and used them in competition.  He now teaches classes in different areas of the country and uses these smokers in his classes.

Does anyone know if these are just on sale or is it a new permanent lower price? I'd love to have one. Heck I'd sell my new Homer and WSM plus about 6 other grills to get into one of these!

In Europe they have a price of €2000. That's the reason nobody has one.

If I could find that deal in Phoenix, I would be a buyer.  Unfortunately, there are only a few dealers here that carry them, and all of them swear that Weber will not let them put Summits on sale.

I've wondered the same thing. The grilling center would sure be nice, but idk about $500 more nice. I would probably just end up with the the summit charcoal grill and spend the other $500 on other toys.

The Summit is very nice.  I saw them the last week at Ace Hardware.  I was very surprised how nice they really are and they should be for that price.  I just cannot justify paying that much yet.  If I were to get one it would be the Tripod model.  It looks cool.

That is a great question.  If you have the money to splurge for a $999 grill, wouldn't you just bite the bullet and get the Grilling center????  I think I would.  I don't know, maybe not.  One day I will have one, and when I post the pic you'll know my answer!  $500 is a lot of money for a side table though.

Here in Canada, reg Summit @ $2000 and the Grilling Center @ $2500.  I would love to have the Summit someday when the price comes down way down low. Like Mike said, for me,  if I were to spend this much anyways.... I go all out and get the Grilling Center. It just looks bad ass with fully exposed kettle suspended bit higher than the SS table. Everything flows nicely on this one. On other hand, reg. Summit just looks odd with those legs and that box on the side just tacked on. Like most of you I do agree the addition of the table is not worth 1/2 $ more than the reg Summit, but the total package might be worth paying for. If you look at our Canadian pricing.... the Summit Grilling Center is 1/4 $ more not 1/2 which might be less hard to take.
