Here's some photos of my mini-wsm I've been working on, as well as a Copper SJG I scored off CL a few weeks ago, and a Red MBH I acquired from Terry.  The last two are complete with new handles from Brian!

Here is my WSM build...fairly straightforward, I used the vasconia tamale pot as the body and for the diffuser I used a terracotta saucer bolted to the steamer tray.  I drilled a bunch more holes in the steamer tray as well.  Finished it all off with some red highlights on the vents and flames with the VHT annodizing paint, then a couple coats of VHT black bbq paint....I have a 22 wsm so this will be used for my smaller smokes.  prob pork butts and chicken.  i will prob use a foil pan sitting on the 2nd grate most cooks to catch drippings. I havent added the tuna-can to prevent ash clogging yet, but i plan to.

Terracotta saucer about to be drilled

knob for top vent

modded handle for bottom vents

painting the body

drew up some flames on sticky paper...didn't know how well it would work, but it didn't turn out too bad...

painted the legs and ashpan as well...

used stainless steel hardware to hold up the grates...

found some nice SS spacers that hold the grates perfectly...

diffuser set up...the steamer lid sets perfectly on the pots ridge

and a simple charcoal ring made out of expanded metal...

I've already smoked a nice thick pork chop in the mini-wsm just as a test and it came out perfectly!  It will have some pork butts in it's future.

Thanks for looking!

That's a sharp looking little smoker you got there.  Can't wait to see your first cook on it!  Hope the paint holds up too!

Wow, that looks nice!   Great job on the lid bail.
Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.

Nice build, Max.  As someone who spent way too much time (& $) on the paint job, I really enjoy when others do the same.
I use the mini for a single pork butt on a regular basis in addition to other smaller smokes/quick cooks.  I love the little bastard.
I'd be interested in knowing what the cooking grate temps max out on with your diffuser set up.
