Of course ... Lol... You probably did me a favour, I prefer the older style anyway

Thanks everyone for the positive comments , I've been staring at it all afternoon
Some of you may now the guy I met up with from TVWBB , his names Phil and is an expert on the Q series
He's worked demonstrating cooking for weber and has put together a cookbook designed for the Q
It was great to get some inspiration and tips on some new dishes too

Are you going to fill everyone in on what happened?

If I tell it, you'll say I didn't tell it right. It's your story. You tell em. ;)

It was mentioned yesterday that the larger  26 ers were still spun even after they started pressing the smaller ones. A very cool process indeed.
I wonder if the older 26ers were ever pressed. The one I had showed no hint of the concentric rings.
kettles, smokers...

I bet this is just another avenue for research. Could be there is a whole different manufacturing evolution or subcontracting process for those.

Hogsy

The lid has the concentric rings on the flat top section of the lid too but not on the curve on the lid also there's a defined circle where it stops around the handle area
Not sure if you can make it out from this pic

The bowl also has the rings from the rim down to about 4 inches from the sockets

So is it flat on the bottom as well as the top?

See my new thread on metal spinning - I think the lathe axis would account for the 4" flat. From the video it looks like they press it into the lathe using padded drums of some kind, then spin the metal from the inside out.
