After searching for years and hassling half the WKC members to buy there's , I finally found one
Ok it's not the Chief I was after but I'm not complaining
This is the first older 26 I've seen in OZ since the itis kicked in
I like it when people can't measure

So I won it for a bargain price and as you can see by my max bid I wasn't going to let it get away
Only problem was it was in the next state and at least a 12hr one way trip to pick up
I put a call out on the Aussie BBQ Forum to see if anyone would agent for me
Low and behold the person I blame for giving me Weberitis put his hand up and offered to pick it up and pack/send it to me. Only problem with buying interstate is it ups the price of the purchase due too the courier cost. This is where it gets good, it turns out he was going on a holiday the next week and would be driving straight past my town.. WooHoo!!
So we rendezvoused today at a truck stop and made the exchange
Great thing was I got to meet someone who really helped me out when I was learning the ropes of BBQ
We sat down and chatted for an hour exchanging tips and thoughts on BBQ
He also gave me some of his secrets to his specialty recipes
Anyway back to the kettle, it's pretty clean, everything's there and just needs a bit of TLC
Here's some pics of it straight off the back of my truck
More pics to come when it's cleaned up

I love the pattern on the lid and bowl where the metal has been pressed
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Great grill Hogsy and it's especially nice the way the delivery worked out. Please post more photos of your first cook on it.

I forgot to ad, a big thanks to all that were helping me find a 26er
And to the rest of the Aussie crew who stood aside and let me bid on this kettle without bidding it up
Best thing is if there's one there's gotta be more out there

I've finally seen a 26er in person 8)
Thanks for dropping by and showing me this 26er today on your way home  ;D
Can't wait to see you clean this up and get cooking
It was a no brainer not to bid on this or post it anywhere as that would have created
Interest from others
Also love it when people don't know exactly what they have!
Well done mate
Sorry I couldn't have beers while perving at said grill but the 2tonne of pebbles had to be moved
So happy you got this

GET ON THAT SHIT
WONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER

Congrats Hogsy....you are going to love it.  It looks to be in great shape and obtained at a sweet price.

Good work Hogsy. Well done for getting a grail off the list mate. Congrats.

Nice grab Hogsy! Almost looks like that one was spun to make it instead of pressed.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

Wonderful 26 hogsy.  I love the flat tops.  I agree with Terry.  My amateur mind thinks that was spun.

Very cool!  Not to spoil Marty's future write up but.... It was mentioned yesterday that the larger  26 ers were still spun even after they started pressing the smaller ones. A very cool process indeed.

Congrats on a great score!

Craig

Congratulations, Hogsy! That's a nice one. If I ever end up with a black 26, I'd want it to be an old school flat top. Very nice indeed!
