Congrats on that spinner. I am having some fun with mine, although I do need some baskets and spare forks

Thanks. I measured the shaft socket on my motor and it is 5/16". The Weber rotisserie is 3/8" right?  If so I better be bidding on that motor.

Finally arrived! The cool part? It appears to have never been used although the wooden spit handle is weathered so obviously it sat outside but for $40 who cares?

Now I have a dumb question: What is the purpose of the weight, and what keeps the weight from just chasing the threads on the little bolt and spinning the nut off and the weight falling off onto the ground?

It is a balancing weight. When it is set correctly, there is know drag on your motor.
Example: Two hole chickens, breast sides mount same side, weight will need to be 180 degrees from breasts.
Hope that makes sense...

Aha! That do maka sense!

In other words the nut needs to be tight. I was thinking it was somehow to balance the weight from bowing the spit and was assuming that it was designed to just hang straight down as the spit turned. Now I get it. Thanks a bunch!

So how long does it usually take you to get the weight set up right? Does it take a bit of practice?

Very easy.  Load up your meat and set the spit in the ring and let it rest with the most weight down.  Then add the weight pointing straight up. Simple.  I do need an EZ que basket now.

Bought a non Weber motor for mine at Ace Hardware $10.00.  Fit fine and works great.
