‘56 Weber Bros Demo find

I found this gem online a few weeks back and had family in the area pick it up for me. They came to visit this past weekend and brought the grill to its new home! 

Seller said tenants left it in the building and it sat in the basement for years.  He also said he cooked on it several times. 

This beast is in fantastic shape. All sockets and welds are solid. Original vents are intact and spin freely.  Some weathered fade, but overall finish is really nice. The front of the ash pan has wire wrapped around the leg, so if anyone has pics of how it was originally attached to the leg it would be appreciated. 

The grill was missing the original cooking grate so I threw on another old grate I had and  cooked some sausages on Saturday and smoked some beans today for Father's Day

What a cool piece of Weber history.  Congratulations Dennis!

Here's a Forum thread I found from 2013 with some photos of how a ash tray attaches to a 56 kettle. Photos aren't the best because of Photobucket logos but you should be able to see enough.
