Golly, the jumbo joe lid bale in much larger than the sjg bale.

Hey Golly - Gummi is right, the lid bale and other parts are not interchangable between the SJP and SJ.    You want to order replacement parts for a Smokey Joe Platinum.  You shouldnt need the side vent dampers assuming you are using a OTS.  The mod is pretty straightforward but just be sure to position the legs so they do not interfere with the ash sweeper.

G, did you put the Lid Lock Support on any of the one you made? Did you use a JJ for a template? AJ  8)
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

I did use the dimensions from a JJ as a guide but did not add the lid lock support.  The Coke JJ had two handles so the lid lock rests on either when in use.  I suppose you could remove one handle and add the support or find a bowl with only one handle.

Thanks for the info!  8)

Why not just use the cut down legs?

Yep. That is what i did with my 18 OTG. Way more stable.

I have short legs for camping.  I love having the ash bucket, makes it much more versatile as to where I can use it safely.

Currently i use a bungee system for the lid holder. I may add the wire one at some point.... But I doubt it.

I like the JJ look.. I'm a sucker for a nice set of legs.. But hey, if you like the short and stubby look, more power to ya! Lol..  8)

Can anyone post pics of their mod? I tried to search the forum and nothing came up.

I definitely would like to do this in future

Thanks!

Duke

No only the legs, but if it's an ot you can add an ash catcher to make it even cooler. My other issue is they still have the sockets and it doesn't really look right if they are left on. Then it also site crooked, but to each his own. No offense to anyone that has done it.
