Question about old 18" kettle
« on: September 27, 2019, 03:07:55 PM »
A few weeks ago I picked up my first used grill. An 18" mbh for $15 dollars that I found on let go. At first glance I thought the bottom rack was corroded from the weather making it look white. I finally got a chance to start cleaning it today and I realized that it is actually white. I don't have much experience with older grills other the what I have learned from reading the forums. I was just wondering if this is normal and if it would help me narrow down what year it is from? I was thinking it's some where between 72'-74' Thank you.

Over the last few years, I have seen this question come up on the Forum.  It seems Weber might have been experimenting with painted triangles in the early 70's. Here is another thread discussing the white, painted triangles.
