What years were the Texan made ?
« on: September 05, 2019, 05:30:10 PM »
I’ve seen a few different people post their Texan but which years are considered the Texan ?
I’m from Texas and feel that I need one in my collection.

What exactly makes a grill a Texan? Just black? Being from Texas myself I may need to add one to my wish list as well

I think Weber stopped using nicknames around the mid 70s.  A Texan is a jet black 22.

Using the link on the WKC Home Page for vintage Weber Catalogs, 1962 is the first catalog listed. In it, the 22" black model is pictured and called "The Texan".

Weber was still using nicknames for their kettles in the 1974 catalog.

The next catalog in the index is 1979 and the nicknames no longer appear in the catalog.

I would think as long as a kettle is a 22" size, black and has a MBH, it would be considered a "Texan".   The year spread would be from at least 1962 thru 1980(B Code).

@Craig  - The WKC Historian might be able to elaborate more definitively.
