My landfill finds

Hey all.  I have been checking out the free "reuse" area at our local landfill since spring.  They even gave me a frequent picker pass so I don't have to sign a waiver every time.  I was hoping to find more, but it all depends on what folks are throwing away, and being there to grab it.  Nothing too exciting, so far, but you can't beat free. An 18 WW Bar-B-Kettle, a GGA, and a cute little 18 red, E code.  Thanks for looking.

I'm adding the redhead to my southern herd.  Cedar Zav handles are on the way, as the RRR continues.  She is cleaning up pretty well.  I'll do the lowers this weekend.

Awesome finds!

So they just let you guys pick stuff out at the landfill? How do I go about this myself?

Grillagin

@JayyyR, the landfill is a deceptive term.  Our place is where people bring unwanted junk and scrap items, for a fee.  Any item the staff thinks could have another life goes into the reuse area.  The rest goes into various big dumpsters and is hauled away.  People can take two items from the reuse area per visit for free, though I haven't seen that rule heavily enforced.  I have also scored an old school Crockpot, pressure washer, weed whacker, planter pots, rain barrel, and a bunch of 5 gallon buckets, etc.  It's a great program, and a shame that more places don't do it, too.

JayyyR

@Grillagin Thanks for the info! I will look into this in my area to see if it's a thing here. That's a great way to pay things forward and help someone in need.

I am working on a video for a new product that I would love to put an image of a Weber in an actual landfill before it's rescued. Do you have an image that I can use? By the way, would you like to test the new product? Not sure if you remember me but I did a sketch for you on how to fix bent lid handles..

Thanks,

Larry

I stopped by the MRC on Friday morning and put grill number four in the back of my truck.  I don't really want it, but it was too clean and nice to pass up.  This one has a Bar-B-Kettle triangle and whitewalls.  DD code. Needs new sweeps but only one tiny ding on the bowl.
