On holidays and I decide to drop in to a second hand store to check out some old tools with my Father-in-law. I'm just browsing and he walks around the corner and says "there's something here you might like". I think 'yep, maybe an old axe or hand plane'.
I wander around to where he is standing wondering why he has such a grin on his face. Sitting in a little alcove all by itself is this poor battered looking red GA.
My heart rate picks up and I start to sweat a little! I sneak a quick pic while the shopkeeper is not looking. I don't want to show too much interest you know!!
I pick it up and check it a little closer. It has twin rivet handles...hmmm, must be an old one. Dust off the vent and there is an 'A' code staring back at me. I know what year 'A' code is without even looking it up. Haha.
Missing a bit of porcelain here and there. One handle bent. Charcoal grate is heat warped. It's not in the best shape but I haven't seen one before. I can't just leave it here.
Can't find a price sticker anywhere. Should I risk leaving it there while I go ask? Nope, FIL stands guard while I find someone. We haggle a little and soon agree on a price. $20.
I walk out of that little shop clutching this red GA nearly as tightly as my firstborn. It's in the car and I can finally breath again.
Whew!!
It's only a Weber, yeah?
It joins the collection along with my near perfect 'A' code Chocolate CGA
