I say 1978.
 I cannot see a date code stamp on the top vent.

I think I can make out a "B" on the vent, meaning an '80.

Those wheels were introduced in 1977, I believe.
 1978 was the first year that the logo on the lid vent was embossed rather than engraved.

I picked it up finally two days ago in Wiesbaden, Germany. It's in a reasonable shape. No letter code on the vent😀 meaning most probably 78. And that's really a wonder here in Europe (as @vwenguy wrote some time ago,in Europe we do not have so long experience with Weber as in the States). Pics not of the best quality as I made it late in the eve. More pics to come after cleaning.

And BTW - when I picked it up I asked the owner "do you know how old it is?". She said no. Then I said 39. Her answer was "priceless" - "No way, we bought it from a friend not so long ago"[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
