anyone use an enamel coated cast iron dutch oven or any other

Yes, I'm a big fan of Le Creuset's enameled cast iron.  The enamel makes clean-up a breeze compared to non-enamel and no worries about seasoning after each use.

Absolutely!! Here's my last cook using an enameled cast iron Dutch oven.
Most of my pieces are blue, but there are a variety of colors to match your grill!

I also LOVE Le Creuset and have had great success using mine on the grill.  As Charlie stated....cleanup is easy peasy and the heat retention is awesome. Colorwise, I've gone with white so it works on all grills.   ;)      Staub also makes a really good enameled cast iron. I do also have plenty of uncoated CI that I use as well and it works great too. I guess I've got both Ebony and Ivory...lol

I like the regular cast iron better myself.  It's cheaper and easy to clean once you learn how to use it. Personally, I find regular cast iron to be more non stick than ceramic.

Also, if your 20 year old son takes it camping and brings it back in horrible shape with rust and burnt on food, you can take a wire wheel to it and restore it to brand new.

I have a red enamel CI Dutch oven.

greenweb

I almost bought one at 1/2 price sale. Trying to decide on Red fade lid, yellow, or blue... next thing I know, the sale was over. I have 12" and 14" reg. CI dutch oven that will tie me over till I get on later.

What would be a good size enamel CI dutch oven to get? 8,10, or 12 incher?

Go big, @greenweb.  I have a bunch of enameled CI and only seem to use the larger pieces on the grill.  Just speaking from my own experience.

Here is a shot of my arsenal. As one reads... 5qt / 8qt / 6.5qt / 4qt / pans are 12" / 10" / 8"/ 6" / 4". I use them all / all the time both inside and Grilling.

A good place to find Cast Iron, usually at a reduced rate are Antique shops.

I have wanted to learn the art of using cast iron on my grills for awhile. Just use it for simple flat cast iron grill for fish, and my favorite scallops..

I have thought about using my enamel cast iron for Chili.. How long does  it take to clean the exterior of the enamel dutch oven? Thats the reason I have tried it yet..

Any help or advice you can share would be greatly appreciated..

Dump cakes would be a breeze if I used enameled
