I will start by saying, I'm not a frequent connoisseur of alcohol. However, I have been a fan of Jack Daniels since my teenage years (thanks dad for not locking the liquor cabinet). That being said, I've wanted a JD logo'd kettle since I found out Weber made one. Last December, my uncle alerted me to this CL ad:
It was real rough, but the lid was in good shape. That's when my wheels started turning. Time to go "custom". Luckily, I had a 18" black OTG that I had been parting out. Legs, wheels, and triangle were already on another kettle. Ash catch was waiting for a suitable project. Bowl & OT sweep were in decent shape.

First thought was handles. Started looking up JD images & getting multiple ideas to pitch to @zavod44. I really wanted to do a reverse mount handle, since the image I really liked required space to look right. After assuring Brian that I had the tools & abilities to attach them, he said he had some Oak barrel staves that would really go with the theme.
Wanted the artwork to resemble the branding used on the JD whiskey barrels:
"Old No.7" tab to compliment the handles:
Since I didn't have a decent set of whitewalls available, I got in touch with @UncleAl to see if he did custom inserts. At that point, he hadn't finished "drawing up" all the alphabet yet. About a month later, he was ready to go. Made me this sweet set of JD inserts:
Since I only had Economy triangles that weren't rusted severely, I decided to go the "even more" custom route. One of my customers is a powdercoating company. Had a rusty triangle sandblasted & powdercoated in black. Also had the ash bucket powdercoated in a textured matte black (like Weber's).
Finished it off with a new set of grates (last year's clearance deals).

Thanks for checking it out.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I don't care one way or another about the JD brand, but that is a great design. What is your next cook on it?

Incredible!
I know you said you don't partake a lot, but I'd say it's time to pour yourself a stiff one and fire that bad boy up!

Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

That just looks amazing. I like the idea of the screw handle from the bottom. Matter of fact, I asked Zav if he could do the same for SJP handles I should be getting soon. Details on the handle and the vent tab are phenomenal.
