i havent done chili in a dutch oven..but i wouldn't worry..

sometimes online forums create mass phobia of  the "do and donts" ..

id cook it .. enjoy it and then look at your CI DO and you probably wont see any difference..

im not doubting that it may be acidic and not great for a DO.. but take a look at that massive piece of iron cookware and think whether some tomato paste will harm it..

your CI DO will outlast you and I .. unfortunately..

All good man...think about it...you would need some serious bits and lots of battery juice to drill a hole through that dutch oven..whats a little acidity?.

Most people add vegetables to stews...just about any recipe and lots of those vegetables are acidic..

Same fourm posting warning about acidity..will offer you a CI  recipe to add fresh squuezed lemon juice

No worries.  Just season well once finished.
Or use enameled CI.

I have a 90 plus year old Dutch oven and cook chili in it  and make marinara sauce with it. Just clean when finished and re season.

@jd I make it in my Dutch Oven all the time. The only thing I notice is a little smell coming from it after I eliminate that smell buy doing the following...

Just do it!

If the seasoning comes off you can eat it too, it wont kill ya. Re-season it if you need to.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

I cook in my dutch ovens all the time, and that includes chili.
It is one of my favorite ways to cook, my ovens get a real workout over the length of the outdoor cooking season, and seeing how I live in the desert, that is about 10 months long, I mean forget it in July and August
a well seasoned cast Iron dutch oven will just laugh at the acid, remember the seasoning is a layer of carbon, that is what protects the iron and makes it non stick.
If we were meant to grill with gas then the garden of Eden would have had a pipeline
