Weber put the history of the "red" kettle on their website.

Kinda cool that they spent the time to put it out there.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I like it. I like the wheels too. I confused where this kettle is made. I remember reading something about China. Are they made and coated there or just coated or neither?

Am I wrong in saying that after 2008 kettle lid vents no longer state Made in USA?

Chinese Weber kettles are nothing new.

Oy.

Some PARTS aren't made here, enough such that Weber can no longer put that on the machine. What's different about this kettle is that this true red requires cadmium, and Americans decided for safer water or air or something, instead of the ability to do it here.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I'd really like to know what parts of any kettle are still Made in the USA?

The reality of colored metals is that bright non earth tones like red, blue and yellow are much more expensive Vs. black, grey etc.. Look at new cars, red is quite often a 5-600+ option.

Additionally after the Fukushima disaster many pigments have increased in price because the vast majority were coming from close to the disaster epicenter.

Colors are more expensive in general.

I would also be shocked to find the Weber is using Cadmium based porcelain, there are other options that are non toxic though they may not be as durable.

Harris addressed this topic very early in this thread.  I believe his source of information is Weber Corporate. @HoosierKettle   @bigredmf

Pre-orders are now because it is not being made here (Far East). Made there because of environmental issues for the bright red finish.  I would pre-order..

Thanks for that link. Even after I knew about it I still couldn't easily find it later navigating from the home page. I agree with the writer that Hunter Pink is kinda orangey-red. This new kettle is a deeper, truer red. (That appeals to me quite a lot.) No mention of Red Mist however.

You see that blog entry, @Craig?

I guess i can't buy it!!..Think America only.....

Dickson Barbecue in Toronto shows them on their main page.

I realize your in Sarnia (I've actually Been there), so I'm assuming you can buy them other places in Canada.

If not maybe we could make a trade for a Canada available kettle.

If it's a US only product, he's in an ideal location since all he's got to do is cross the Blue Water Bridge and go to the nearest American Weber dealer.
Barbecue World & Barbecues Galore in Canada already stated that they have them(or will be getting them). It isn't US only.

Quote from: blksabbath on November 07, 2017, 02:36:50 AMI saw one at ACE yesterday.

Which ACE?
Manchester near Brentwood.

Oh yeah, Westlake gives Rick's good competition for the "fancy Ace" crown. Do they display the Summit Charcoal, like Rick's does?

Would love to see the new red next to an older red. Anyone have both?

There's a non-compete clause posted about 30 pages back. Basically, it just says that if you have an older one, you're not allowed to like the new one well enough to commit to a purchase.  ;D

Meanwhile, back here at the Craiger compound....... this happened... It even came complete with a vintage looking distress gash in the lid... Thanks to Weber's top notch CS, replacement red lid is on its way. FedEx guy set the box sideways.....
