I was told by the guy at johnstones BBQ in Canada that they went to Weber and asked for some special colors and Weber came back and said if you agree to purchase x amount of kettles we will make them for u. Of course I don't know what the real number for x was I'm sure it was a substantial amount

Greenweb you are forgetting one thing, these special kettles were sold ONLY in Canada. North America constitutes Canada and America.

You really think I don't know that. Thanks for reminding me anyways.  I am including Canadians when I mentioned North America.

If I have to drive from DC to Canada for a kettle I'm not enamored  about it aint happening.

Let me ask you.  If you could get one for $215 plus $60 to $80 for shipping... would you get one?  No need for you to drive and cross the boarder. Just wondering.

Let me make it clear I can deal with the taco handle and the lid vent and I love all the Canadian colors it's the matte finish that kills it for me. The same matte finish thats on the new copper and green kettles that I hate. So yeah if it weren't for the finish I would have them all. What's the purpose of the matte finish?

What's the purpose of the matte finish?

It could be an aesthetic decision (doubt it as the matte finish hasn't been a trend) or a manufacturing decision as it could be easier/cheaper to spray or fire. Noone knows for sure.

I saw them in person at the end of February 2016.

Of the 4 colours offered, only the Slate has a matte finish.

Not too sure how many of these are still available.  Been close to a year since their release up here.

I think its an economic/manuf. decision based on the idea that manufacturers in general are always looking for cheaper ways to make their product.

It won't be too long before the matte finishes find their way to alot more kettles.

Im not a color guy but I would really like the elevated rack and the gourmet grate. The kettle would just be a bonus.

I think I might be the one dissenting opinion on this, but I actually like the slate one.  It's a nice light blue to it.  The slate and the ivory one are my two favourites.  The smoke and the spring green seem to change considerably under different lighting.

@MacEggs @MrHoss, what's the going rate on these at the moment?

@pbe gummi bear , I cannot say with any real certainty what the going rate is …

They started out at $299.99 CAD + tax, which is what I purchased mine at.
They may have got down $50-60 less than that, not exactly sure.  Might depend on the retailer.

Perhaps @greenweb could shed some light on that.

Also i talked to a company that had the blue in stock and worldwide shipping, but when i inquired about shipping to Canada, they told me they don't ship to Canada...

Would you mind sharing the contact information for the company?  I would like to see if they will ship to the US for the heck of it.
