First, I'm glad your grampa-in-law led a long and happy life. Sometime that makes their passing a little easier to take. Your family has my condolences nonetheless.

Second, you are indeed a lucky man. That is an incredible stash of Weber gear and it has been given to someone who will cherish it and use it.

Third, can I have the storage bin? Please?

So sorry for your loss. As you use those items you'll be constantly reminded of the time spent with your grandfather in law. Cliche but every kettle does have a story. Keep this haul in the family make many more memories. Very nice story and thanks for sharing.

First off, Sorry for your loss and my condolences to you and your family.      WOW, I can't even imagine what thoughts were going through your head moments before opening up this fantastic family treasure. Then opening it and seeing what hadn't seen the light of day in years must have just blown you away as it has us. Cooking on that great grill the very first day, ^5. Keeping that great time capsule in the family, PRICELESS   ;D
drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke    8)
It's not just a grill, it's a WEBER

Sorry. I almost posted a comment that would have left me in the open for the vultures. I'll start a new thread.

Sorry for your loss. My prayers and best wishes for your family. That man was obviously an OG Grillfella. May the thin blue smoke rise to the heavens in his honor.

Holy Pierogi!!!  You are one lucky guy!  I love the redhead.  When my father-in-law died all he left us were his bills.

Wow that's just simply amazing!
Keep all that stuff and know you'll be honoring his memory every time you use it. No better way to show respect and keep his memory alive.
Can't exactly tell from the pic, but the kettle seems to be older than '79, and damn it looks to be in excellent shape!
