Table question
« on: May 21, 2016, 11:55:59 AM »
Picked this table up today after finding it earlier this week on offerup. It's in nice shape but I'm wondering about refinishing. Anyone have success refinishing these?? Thanks in  advance, Scott

Kind of depends on how many layers of varnish it has. From your picture, it looks thin, but it's just a pic. If mine, I would disassemble, and start with a finer grit paper if it has a light varnish and see how it works . Then get finer as to finish and not harm the grain. I think I would give it a darker stain maybe to set along side that beautiful chestnut you were talking about earlier. Just personal opinion. Then give it a couple good coats of varnish for a beautiful shine.

Neat looking find anyways, and doesn't look like much work in refinishing the table. Good find Scott!

I put 3 coats of teak oil on both sides of mine and it turned out beautiful.

I restored one that was extremely greasy . I had to sand the veneer being careful not to go to deep , I finished it with teak oil as well .

Teak oil it is. Thanks guys. I'll let ya know how it works out. It's not very dirty. Just a light sanding should be fine.        @crumbsnatcher  GREAT looking finish on your table
