i received an alert from a keen however absolutely last minute agent regarding a certain estate sale.   thank you keen however absolutely last minute agent! :D

i asked one of the usual suspects about it via text and got no reply.

now what to do... is someone else on it?  no mention of it on wkc...

hmm.

yeah well, you know how that goes.

B code bonus buy!

finally scored a flat top.  :D

the original wheels have disintegrating white areas so i updated it to my old wheels from my 2014 26" left overs.

the handles aren't centered on the leg sockets, and the vent is off center from the handle.   :o :o :o :o

rear handle gone, but no holes.  boo-yah, lid bail candidate.

yay i scored a drunk friday kettle!   ;D ;D

still have a little scraping to do.

all the vents work, i just need a new grate for cooking on.  the coal grate is fine.  i think one of the menards ones fits these older 26's.

thanks for checking her out!   :)

I only use kettles with lid bales.

plus i'm going to have a house in FL soon that will need some hot rod kettle action, so i am planning on the yellow and red going south with me.

finally greg will have some space!!!   ;D

Holy sh*t! That's one of if not the last year of the old red 26ers (Occasional 80s-90s One Touch red 26 not withstanding) Those and the chocolates were gone at the end of that year as evident in the "Effective October 31 1980" price list. That thing has to be a bright shiny red compared to the ones from 8-10 years earlier which were a little darker. My '79 and '81 red 22s are a much brighter red than my 1969-72' (PAT PENDING) era reds. So I figure this one for a brighter fire engine red. Congratulations and let's get this one documented and into the gallery. Looks badass!

Craig

Yes GregS those fit the old flat top 26ers. I bought a bunch last year on smoking clearance!
