Outside looks fairly good.  Some shine, new handles, and TLC would do it.  the one touch system has me thinking.

First rehab so any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.  The rehab section on this board is great and I'll start there!

These are pics the seller sent me.  I'll post as I move along.

*sorry, couldnt figure out the pic part so i posted a link to my google doc pics.

Looks great.
Looks like the top handle broke off and had to be re-attached, but other than that, its a fine cooker.

The inside will clean right up with a razor scraper

You might need to saw out the old one touch. A hack saw will cut the ends off the sweep handle, which will allow that giant nut to slip back through the bottom of the grill. (assuming that thumbscrew is worthless already)
The new version is easier to install and remove.

And you can get some sweet replacement wood handles here -> http://weberkettleclub.com/weber-handles/

That's awesome. Love me some blue. Can't wait to see her in action.

Thanks for the advice Troy!  Yes, those handles are sweet.  I didn't notice the bolt on lid handle :/ (had a buddy of mine pick up the unit).  Does anyone have advice on how to reattach to prevent heat/air flow/loss thru the lid?

That's a beauty, congrats.  As for the bolt hole, I have had success with Rutland food grade sealant.  I used that with a nomex/Kevlar gasket to seal a stacker ring mod at the bowl.  There may be negligible heat loss at the handle bolt hole seeing how Weber's lid handles are now bolt on.

Good advice and great looking kettle!  The handle is fine as any loss from there will be negligible so don't sweat it.
Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

That's a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l   blue OTS.  Season the rust around the lid handle bolts and start to cook'n.   I've found that giving her a new hinged cooking grate makes she and you feel really good about your new adventure together :)                   SJ

Great score! As for the date, there should be a letter code on the top vent that coresponds to the year it was made. Check out the age guide under the banner at the top of the site. Can't wait to see it cleaned up and cooking!
