was out agenting a table when i acquired this black beauty.
« on: December 07, 2014, 10:58:47 AM »

was picking up the table for a WKC'er and stumbled into this B code blackie.

i'm thinking the legs/wheels/triangle may not be original to her.

she was pretty durty.

two buckets warm soapy water and some 0000  lovin'.

anyway, pretty nice shape for 34 year old.  i think it may be going to tejas, we'll see.  i'm ok if it doesn't.  :D
I only use kettles with lid bales.

Times 2. That is flippin' beautiful right there. And the handle being in such great shape probably means this was stored indoors or covered much of the time I would think. Damn fine score Greg.

Craig will know for sure, but I think all that stuff is original.....pan, I'm pretty sure is accurate for that time period....

Really nice shape !!!!!

thanks guys!

the triangle cleaned up really easily, there was just the few starting spots of rust that the steel wool took right off.  i can do a better job in the spring on the legs unless it flies out before.  @Golly   so i'm pretty sure this was kept inside too, for sure.

@jcnaz @1buckie @brettbrown  i barely gave it a once over with steel wool and two buckets of water.  some of the marks on the hood would come right out with a little razor action.  haven't even gotten to that yet.  i think this thing could be almost like new with a proper effort.

i'm a big fan of the orange peel finish too.  i always think 80s overspray everything era.  :p:  @MrHoss @Dave O

the table needs a bit of glue and a once over but it should re-emerge a nice piece in the end.

Nice find. The legs, triangle, ash catcher and wheels are period correct to the kettle.

I agree that the legs/wheels/ash pan are all original. Exactly the same as my B black as well.
Gorgeous grill. Mine has that orange peel look too.

Wow, I love the orange peel finish on those old black kettles, and that handle is perfect!  Congrats on a great score.
