What a great find...bet it was a "nervous couple of nights sleep".  It is good that one of you guys were able to snag that.  I wonder what colour is underneath that paint on the Kettle.

That's fabulous !!!

Hoping the paint will come off easily.....at least for the kettle as it looks to be in prime shape.....chipless?

Must have come across on a wooden ship from the States, eh what?

That one is a bit interesting. Mine has no bottom vents or side handles.
Yours clearly has vents but no leg sockets..
A shame they sanded it.
You can stick an 18 OTG in it.
Nice score!

Hey AJ, do you have more pics of yours? (btw the one you posted a while back looked like the kettle had side handles)

The kettle seems to be in great condition so I think I am going to see if I can remove the paint from it.
Not sure about the cart yet, might get it stripped and powder coated/repainted.

OK, they say the memory is they first to go.. They would be correct.. @kendoll

I've heard this stuff

http://www.wmbarr.com/citristrip/default.aspx

is good for eating paint w/o damaging the wood beneath. Kettlewise, I don't know. But, due to the durability of the factory weber coating, I'd venture to say that it'd work well w/o damage(so long as you don't forget it's on there).

I'm stuck on this part here: "He bought it as decorative furniture but his wife didn't like it."

Gee, really?

Must have been a heck of a grillfella to put such a thing in or around the house mostly as decoration.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
