Well I checked Gumtree on Friday evening, as is my want, and had to do a double take.

Checked my phone to see if the usual suspects were on it..... nope.

Straight on the phone, agreed the price, agreed a time to meet, seller agreed to take the ad down straight away.

Nervous couple of nights sleep and a bit of a long drive later (a bit over 100km each way) and I am the proud owner of this:

Will get some more pics uploaded.

The guy bought it at an estate auction from a guy who had owned it for the last 30+ years.

He bought it as decorative furniture but his wife didn't like it.
The frame was sanded down and both it and the kettle were painted with pot belly black paint.

Still can't beleive this showed up on Gumtree in Australia!

gummi, I'm not sure if these were ever released in Australia, will have to have a word with Weber here.

None of us have ever seen one over here before.

The best thing about it was making a day out of it and heading down to Bowral with my wife on a beautiful sunny Sunday.
Stopped of in Berrima (nice little country town) for a spot of lunch too. :)
Great day all round.

Heyjude

That one is a bit interesting. Mine has no bottom vents or side handles.
Yours clearly has vents but no leg sockets..
A shame they sanded it.
You can stick an 18 OTG in it.
Nice score!
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

Hey AJ, do you have more pics of yours? (btw the one you posted a while back looked like the kettle had side handles)

The kettle seems to be in great condition so I think I am going to see if I can remove the paint from it.
Not sure about the cart yet, might get it stripped and powder coated/repainted.

Ken - congrats, that is an amazing score.

I bet that paint will come right off with some 0000 steel wool.  Hopefully there is a nice shiny kettle underneath!
