First, it wouldn't have happened without some outstanding members of the WKC. Not to be left out, local members, CL, karma and most of all luck. It was in my tag and I was reached out to. I have been blessed at this hobby. Helping others when I can, makes me happy too.

On with the story. A member found a kettle and reached out. These as we know are few and far between. We struck a deal on the kettle. It was fine, but another member had a piece that would fit into this grail. The bowl was solid as a rock, but had seen heat in its years of cooks. A deal was struck for a lonely bowl out there with no lid or leg kit. Today I traded the the crazed bowl to a member for a cold twelve pack. He scored one this spring, a lid and bowl, but bowl is probably beyond repair. Soon after he left, the other bowl arrived.

Thanks again to all that have helped me. You know who you are, Thanks!

Arrived at work today.

The rest of the pictures.(Poor quality on the pics, light has shortened here terribly...)

The 12 pack bowl is now happy.

Has the Pat#. Wheels are plastic hub with real rubber tread.
First wheels of this type I have. Would this be there first of the Pat#?
The Yellow and Brown I have have are 71-73, but have the plastic hub and plastic tread...

What style bowl tabs do your yellow (launched in 1973) and brown have?

As for your cado.... The 1973 catalog pictures them with half rubber/plastic tires and lists the Patent number 3538906. The 1972 catalog lists the kettles as PAT PENDING still.  There's still fewer live examples of PAT#'d cados than there are PENDING ones..

Of all the plastic wheels ever made, the early half rubbers are the best IMO.

The Yellow and Brown are both small tab bottom and top vents, just like this Cado. I thought the turn was in 74 to large tab bottom vents?
I'm getting old and retention is not always there...

Craig

Change to large bowl tab speculation points to '75. I have a yellow 22 and a black fade 22 with the same early plastic wheels/plastic treads but with large bowl tabs (BBQK lid vent)

Just hard to pin down. I have two Black MBH 18's, one small tab bottom vents, the other large. Same wheels, Plastic hub/plastic tread.

Nice Greg, glad you have the cado now.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.
