Green kettle with twin rivet handles
« on: June 05, 2014, 08:01:02 PM »
I'm going to look at this kettle on the weekend.
The first I've seen over here with double rivet bowl handles
Any ideas on the age?
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Well it was on Gumtree.... Seller pulled the ad and backed out of deal
Looks like I'll have to bid for it on eBay

Thanks Craig and yes I did!!!
Funny story behind this one too
The seller had it listed on eBay for $70, she relisted twice with no bidders, she then posted it on Gumtree for $70, I offered her $30 and she declined
She then relisted on eBay for .99c and I ended up winning it for $15
When I went and picked it up , I couldn't help myself and said to her 'I bet you wished you took my offer of $30 a week ago?' To which she looked at me red faced and mumbled something under her breath
Anyway it's in pretty good condition and I really like the older green colour, and this is as close as we've seen to MBH green in OZ .
Handles are in good shape but one has come off so I decided to reattach it with rivets instead of bolts, the colour of the rivets are close but not the right match but I think it looks better than the plain silver
rivets and they feel quite sturdy as well
Here's some pics-

Great looking grill! Wonder if C code year was a bad weld year? Just received a black one, front leg socket let go. It is a single screw handle, not a 2 rivet handle.

Love that green. Fine looking kettle that I also could find a place for. Fifteen bucks is a steal, bet you have a grin you cannot wipe off your face.

I wish Canada had a similar selection of used kettles.  We have squat compared to you guys down under and we are right smack beside the Motherland!!!  If I think about it too much my head hurts.  The wife is glad when I tell her about it but my head hurts.

I've got a C code blaik from Duke. Sockets and handle straps are solid as a rock. Just needs a deep clean. All three handles are twin rivet. I don't know if it's the year. I've had good luck drilling and riveting sockets into place. I have a 60s red 22 that came to me with socket issues. Rivets hold solid..
