That's awesome! My old red ear lived in our backyard and would go for dips in our swimming pool. We hung a 1x10" wooden plank off the edge so he could get in and out. Most kids put their turtles in a shoe box for show-and-tell. Ours used to travel in a medium sized puppy carrier. It was a cool turtle that lived a long, happy life in the backyard sunshine.
