I'm gonna pee on myself. I personally would cook on it. It would be like inheriting a Ferrari and not driving it. Gotta use it just a little bit.. IMO. I say that now, but I would feel guilty either using it and not using it..no doubt.
What a BEAUTY!!
This is why I like to go to antique shops. Someday I will find one of these...or a tater ring...or a robins egg blue galley-que. lol...and I said I was chillin out on the collecting.

Wow!!! Great find and yes, buy a $20 beater and sit this one next to it while cooking on the beater. Gives hope that we all will find one like this someday. Google satellite isn't working, snow is to deep... :o JK!

That is a thing of beauty. Like it has been suggested, get a 20 buck beast to cook on and keep the beauty looking pristine..
Oh and welcome to the addiction.. I mean club :-[

The Happy Cookers (aka: newbies)  are picking up all the choice stuff lately. I'm going to drop out and re-register to see if that does the trick for me.   ::)

Nice! I would add that to my collection for sure. Still, it's $150, and I've never paid that for any kettle. Maybe someone with a black Performer wants to trade my red bowl for their black at the May Meetup?

but would like some insight on when it was from.

Welcome to the club! Nice grill!  And this link may help you a little if this is what you were referring to.

I would bet it is 73 if that is when he said he got it though.

Awesome grill! You could eBay it to fund a Performer and a 26" and couple months' worth of groceries. :P

I was just thinking, are the wheels on this period correct? The guy said he assembled it right out of the box and I don't doubt him whatsoever. But I was just curious. I know Big B picked up a 18 limey the other day and from his pictures the wheels look different.

They should be period correct. Weber switched to those between 1975 and 1977. They look just like the modern ones but I have found that the earliest of this style has a longer inner axle socket making them sit tighter in between the legs and the hubcaps. My '78 brownie has these wheels and I like how the are on tighter than the later ones.

Interesting, thank you. The guy was saying he got this as a wedding present in '73 though, so that is interesting. Maybe he forgot when he was first married?  ;) who knows.
