Being an Agent
« on: September 14, 2013, 07:13:51 AM »
Is there a list somewhere or is it just something people who often buy kettles just know who to contact in a given area?

If it's more formal, what are the typical requirements?

I'm not into this for collecting (gasp) so I think it would be fun to score some for those of you who are.

I'm in the Southeast Minnesota area if you find something around here.

I have the grills I want, but still enjoy the chase! ;-)

WKC will be accepting applications for secret agent status in October. Please have your essays and recommendations ready. We are still in process of completing the grillfella quiz which test for weber history, restoration skill, and cooking ability. Kamado lovers need not apply.  8)

In all seriousness though the nice thing about WKC is that people are willing to help each other out. One cool thing about having an informal list is that it encourages more discussion and getting to know people rather than just emailing a random dude to pick something up for you. For example, if someone doesn't know who is in Australia or CA Bay Area, they should be hanging around more.  :)

The google map is also a good place to start for finding where people are.

I have gotten to know a few great guys on this forum being an agent.  If a grill is not a good flip opportunity then I will be more than willing to be an agent.
Especially when it comes to collectible items.  I am into more practical over collectible, I like the one touch system over the 3 wheeler system.

So if it is in the Detroit area let me know.  I do not make a profit off of club members but I ask that they help me out a little with some of the run around gas.  There is usually a fee for paypal as well

Here is what I have found in being an agent for others.
Smokey joes are about $20 to $30 to ship - never needed to purchase a box.
18's are 30 + to ship plus the cost of a box $7 @ fedex
22's are in the range of $50 + to ship plus the cost of a box $10 @ fedex.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Yeah Golly, those prices should only apply for those in the lower 48.  I don't know how you guys down under do it.

You picking up a big green cooker for someone today?  Not sure I would be an agent for a beast like that.

lawrence, you are a better man than I am.  I assume you are Dazzo's agent, if so let's get some pics when you get it.

while I love mine, I do think the kettles are the king of BBQ
