How Rare Are The 2 Tone Brown Weber's?
« on: July 29, 2013, 06:30:49 PM »
I rarely see the kinda 2 tone brown kettles on CL, or anywhere else for that matter.  I am fairly new to the "older history" of Weber's, though see quite a few on here have them. I have never seen one in person...... Think they are pretty neat...... Anybody fill me in on some of the history on that color combo & the era they were made?...... Thanks!..... Trying to learn here :)

Here's one. You'll have to ask Harris if it's still available, tho, because it was listed earlier today.

WEBER KETTLE CHARCOAL GRILLE $25

Wow that's the closest to me I've seen one. Still a long ways to drive though.

We're going to Oregon for my folk's 40th anniversary on the 23rd. If I knew he would hang onto it long enough I'd be tempted to make a detour and pick it up so I had something to cook with at Wallowa Lake.

That's a nice one. As for rarity, of the 70s-80s colors, the browns tend to pop up the most. Hogsy and I are brownie fans among others here but I know they are not a huge among civilians and even some in here.. ;D which could be why they pop up on CL more often then say an avocado or a yellow kettle.

Are you going to pick this one up? Looks like anywhere from 77-79 from the picture..

Oh and brown kettles aka Copper Mist came on the scene around 1969  when it replaced Chestnut Copperton (two tone pink) and were renamed Chocolate by the early 80s and still around as late as 1991 (N) code. I think they were still around a few years after that but it's unconfirmed.

This is my one and only brown (crappy picture from gumtree ad as it is still at a mates place). H code.

This one's a One Touch Plus.....

I have a fairly beat Two tone Brown MasterTouch.....Gold ash can added......

The original post is metal bowl handle.....older.....quite possibly a 3-wheeler.....

I like this from the ad ~~>

"If you want it fancy there is BBQ spray paint at home depot for that. "
    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

There was a red 18" daisy wheel in Bend not too long ago.  I was watching it, but the listing disappeared before I had the chance to pick it up.

I love them too! However I tend to think of the color as chocolate nougaty goodness as I cook juicy burgers and wings on my Warrior.  Sort of a sweet and salty association with me ;D
