HELP to bowl restore
« on: October 05, 2022, 02:56:03 AM »
Hi all!!

I'm restoring a Bar-B-Kettle and the bowl have matt zones in the charcoal zone (green in picture), it's looks like white or grey.

I cleaned the entire bowl with an aluminum scourer

Is possible to bring the shine again? What would do to make it possible?

Also, the bowl have some zones without enamel (red in picture), I read on the forum that the best way is drop oil on the zone with enamel.

Which oil are recommended to do this? I need to do anything after drop the oil before cooking?

Thanks in advance :)

more scrubbing with 0000 steel wool and dawn liquid detergent, unsure if you have that available where you are but that will get all that shined up, don't worry about the rust inside the bowl to much, the heat will burn off that oil quick, if there is any rust spot on exterior than yes for the oil.
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

For the oil I would go with something like grapeseed, coconut or avocado oil as they have a higher flashpoint so they wont scorch like olive oil etc
